The path less traveled

It's a tough decision to start the pursuit of your passion. It can be an unbelievably daunting task. The decision alone to embark on such an endeavor is challenging. It's only the beginning of tough decision making.

There comes a time in everyone's pursuit where they come to a fork in the road. There are two options going forward and a decision has to be made. One direction is well lit, well defined, is smoothly paved, has great visibility of what lies up ahead, and appears to be the road that will take you the highest. This is the road that almost everyone takes. It is "safe". The other road is dark, not well defined, a little scary, and filled with overhangs and hazards. This is the path less traveled.

When the journey gets tough, it is so easy to choose the first path because it will make everything "easier". In other words, when obstacles spring up, a lot of people give up on their vision. They see an out and they take it. They are out of their comfort zone so their mind starts leaning back towards "the known". Plus, they feel somewhat already fulfilled because they took the initiative to embark on the journey. That's good enough for them and they are satisfied. They gave it a shot.

Don't be this kind of person. Think of every pioneer that you admire. Somewhere along the line they came to a fork in the road (or most likely several) and despite the elements and the uncertainty, they took the path less traveled. When circumstances grew more difficult, they voluntarily chose to make themselves even more uncomfortable. They were fully committed and did whatever it took to make their dreams realities. That is the very reason we still speak of them today.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
              - Robert Frost

When times get tough, push even harder. Take the path less traveled. Choose to Venture On... and never settle. It will make all the difference.
