Last night I stumbled across one of the most interesting, relevant, influential lecturers I have ever heard. His name is Napoleon Hill. I was on Spotify looking for a good lecture series and happened to come across several of his recordings. He's old school with a... unique voice, but the man spits truth and wisdom. Some of the titles suggest that it is all about getting rich and making money; this is NOT the case (however, you can apply his messages to that purpose if you choose). One thing that he said in a lecture I listened to last night is that success is a choice. Whatever you define is success, whatever your goals are, it is simply a choice whether or not you reach them. There is not an outside force or third party that can keep you from reaching them if you truly believe and try hard enough. Success is a mindset. It is a condition that we must program our mind to subconsciously believe that we will succeed no matter what, so that when the hard times come during our ventures we automatically block out any negativity or doubts.
In fact, he says that the only reason people fail is because their conviction weakens and they simply give up. Their minds were not prepared; they simply chose to quit. Some of us give up after only a handful of people tell us no. The ones who do succeed and do overcome any obstacle in their path, no matter how big or small, no matter how many pop up, have ingrained so deeply in their mind that they will succeed no matter what happens that they fulfill their own prophecy. Obstacles and doubters don't even phase them. As a matter of fact, each "no" causes them to fight for whatever it is they are pursuing that much more. They have conditioned their mind to simply not accept failure, not matter what. They are the prime examples of the Venture On mindset.
Condition your mind. Do not accept failure. Never settle.
